Samtec GmbH has revised its Mobility Workshop in 2018. The workshop is a classic “preliminary study” with concrete recommendations for action and is part of samtec’s methodological approach. In addition, however, it can also be obtained as a separate package to conduct a site assessment in terms of mobile security and mobile strategy without being tied to a follow-up project.
Procedure Workshop
By means of a questionnaire, specific areas are queried, which enable us to perform the needs analysis and thus, to present the current situation. You will receive documents for self-study to answer the questions as comprehensively as possible. Based on the findings, samtec creates a risk profiling and a first target solution draft, which is presented and discussed in the workshop. After the workshop, the delivery objects are adjusted and handed over to you as complete documentation.
Target Workshop
The workshop helps you to simplify the complexity of mobility, to map the actual/target state and to show internal as well as external influences. Through the risk profiling, which is carried out according to the ISMS of ISO-27001, you will be shown all risk scenarios with the corresponding, comprehensible recommendations for action. Thanks to the close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders, the scope of the workshop can be guaranteed and a possible implementation phase can be shortened by the recommendations for action. After the workshop, you will have a clear, secure mobile strategy customized for your company, which will serve as a guardrail for decisions in the years to come.
Workshop Execution
In order to conduct the workshop as efficiently and effectively as possible, it is necessary that both IT and decision makers are present at the workshop. Since projects can also result directly from the recommendations for action, it is advantageous if everyone has the same level of knowledge. The involvement of management and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is essential, at the latest when it comes to handling risks. The earlier this happens, the more efficient and profitable the workshop will be.
Supply objects workshop
After the workshop, you will receive documentation consisting of the complete ISMS according to ISO-27001 with concrete recommendations for action and the actual/target state of the infrastructure. If the mobility workshop is combined with an EMM solution implementation, you will receive the IT policies for the installation and a non-binding quote for the implementation. Optionally, we also support you in the development of internal regulations and awareness training for risks that cannot be handled technically.

This will not only help you gain a clear, long-term strategy on your mobile ecosystem, but also help you claim audits or ISO certifications. When implementing an EMM solution, the installation time is reduced to a minimum, as all important requirements have already been concretized and defined through several cycles and due to the alignment between IT and management, all parties involved have the same level of knowledge. Furthermore, IT has a documented as-is and to-be state, and thus has enough information to write project proposals. Another advantage for your company is that there is no vendor lock. All documents and findings can also be used by other vendors for an implementation.
