Admittedly: the "journey" from ITpoint in Gümligen to innova only takes a few minutes, even by foot. Quite helpful when one considers that the Service Level Agreement defines an on-site reaction time of 30 minutes for critical cases. What is needed here is a team of IT specialists that understands the environment and the requirements of the innova team and can provide the appropriate assistance. This calls for a standardised IT environment and a close exchange between innova and ITpoint, backed up by an appropriate Managed Services concept.

innova decided in favour of a dedicated IT environment that is operated in two proprietary computer centres. The design of the environment corresponds to ITpoint standards and was defined in cooperation with innova. It comprises x86 and storage components from Lenovo/IBM, VMware as the hypervisor, Citrix in conjunction with Thin Clients for publishing applications and data, and Veeam for replication and backup/recovery. Which components are used specifically is of far less relevance to innova than safeguarding IT operations without burdening in-house resources. The outtasking model jointly defined by innova and ITpoint is based on ITpoint's ORIA principle and provides exactly the IT services that innova needs for its business operations.
